Remove Spam

What is spam?

There are three main criteria to define email as spam;

1. Unsolicited - consent must be provided for the mail to be sent to the recipient. Consent may be inferred by a "business or other relationship".
   

2. Identity - accurate information must be provided about the person or organisation sending the message.
   

3. Unsubscribe - there must be a functional unsubscribe button to allow recipients to opt out from receiving further messages. An opt out request must be actioned within 5 days.

These criteria must not be met in order to classify an email as spam.

Anti spam or spam filtering software ideally blocks any emails that can be classified as spam. Emails that are identified as spam should be forwarded to a Junk or Spam folder whilst all other emails should continue to be received into the recipient's email box.

Spam is not only a great irritation, but poses security risks to your computer. Australian laws are very strict on individuals and organisations that send out spam.

To avoid spam, don't give your email address to un-trusted sources, protect your email address when posting it on a website and most importantly use ANTI SPAM software.
